How It Works
Last updated: 10 July 2026
Trust is the foundation of DocReview. This page explains, in plain language, how we work to keep reviews genuine and how we moderate content. It reflects our commitment to being a responsible, good-faith platform.
1. Reviewer validation (OTP)
To help ensure reviews come from real people, every reviewer completes a one-time-password (OTP) validation using their mobile number. This step exists solely to confirm a review comes from a genuine, contactable person and to deter fake or automated reviews.
- The mobile number is used only for validation and, where you consent, for account and service communications.
- Your mobile number and OTP are never shown publicly.
- See our Privacy Policy for how we handle this data.
Important: OTP validation confirms a reviewer is a real person — it does not independently verify the clinical details of any experience described. Reviews remain individual opinions.
2. What we do to keep reviews genuine
- We take steps to detect and prevent fake, duplicate, incentivised, and manipulated reviews.
- We prohibit reviews posted by a doctor about themselves or their competitors, and paid or induced reviews (see our Community & Review Guidelines).
- We may use automated and manual checks to flag suspicious activity.
3. How we moderate
- Reviews may be checked against our Community & Review Guidelines.
- Anyone can report a review or profile, and doctors can respond publicly or request removal via our Content Complaint & Takedown Policy.
- We may hide, edit (e.g. to redact private information), or remove content that breaches our Guidelines or the law, and we comply with valid legal and court orders.
4. Doctors have a voice
Doctors can claim their profile, correct factual information, and — once their profile is claimed and verified — reply publicly to reviews. (Reporting a review does not require a claim.) See our Doctor Right-of-Reply & Profile-Claim Policy. We do not remove genuine reviews for payment.
5. Reviews are opinions
DocReview does not verify the clinical accuracy of reviews, and does not verify doctors' qualifications — the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) at [https://slmc.gov.lk] is the official authority on that. Please read our Disclaimer.
