Doctor Right of Reply & Profile Claim Policy

Last updated: 10 July 2026

DocReview (operated by Strontium Innovations) is a neutral platform. We believe doctors should be able to see what patients say about them, correct factual errors, and respond in their own words. This policy explains how.

1. Claiming your profile

1.1 If a profile about you appears on DocReview, you may claim it to manage your professional information and respond to reviews.

1.2 Verification. To protect against impersonation and to make sure the right person controls a profile, we verify claims. We may ask for:

  • your SLMC registration number;
  • proof of identity and/or professional registration;
  • a verifiable professional email or contact.

1.3 We aim to review claims within [7] business days. We may decline or reverse a claim if verification is insufficient or if information appears false.

2. Correcting your professional information

Once verified, you may request corrections to factual profile details, such as:

  • name spelling, specialty, sub-specialty;
  • current hospital(s) / place(s) of practice;
  • professional qualifications and registration details.

We will correct information that is inaccurate. Accurate professional information also helps ensure reviews are attributed to the correct doctor (see Section 5).

3. Responding to reviews (right of reply)

3.1 The right of reply is available only to doctors who have claimed and verified their profile (see Section 1). Unverified or unclaimed profiles cannot post public responses. This protects against impersonation and ensures a reply genuinely comes from the doctor concerned.

3.2 Once your profile is claimed and verified, you may post a public response to reviews about you. This is often the most effective way to address a review you feel is unfair — it lets patients see your side.

3.3 Your response must:

  • be professional and courteous;
  • not disclose the patient's identity, medical information, or any confidential details — even if you believe the reviewer has misrepresented events. You must comply with your professional confidentiality obligations and the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022;
  • not threaten, harass, or retaliate against the reviewer;
  • comply with our Community & Review Guidelines.

3.4 We may remove responses that breach these rules (particularly any that reveal patient information).

4. Reporting a review for removal

Reporting is different from replying: you do not need to claim your profile to report a review. Any doctor (or their authorised representative) who believes a review is false, defamatory, or breaches our Guidelines can report it through our Content Complaint & Takedown Policy. Only public replies require a claimed, verified profile (Section 3).

Please note:

  • A review you simply disagree with, or a genuinely-held negative opinion, is not automatically removed.
  • Reviews that make false statements of fact, disclose private information, or are otherwise unlawful will be assessed and may be removed.

5. Correct attribution and same-name doctors

Because more than one doctor may share a name, we take attribution seriously. If you believe a review has been attached to the wrong doctor (for example, it concerns a different practitioner with the same or a similar name), please tell us immediately at info@docreview.lk with your SLMC registration details, and we will investigate and correct the profile promptly.

6. No pay-to-remove

We do not remove or alter genuine reviews in exchange for payment, advertising, or any commercial arrangement. Reviews are removed only where they breach our Guidelines or the law.
